We ran into the same issue as well. We removed ALL snapshots of this vm and then it started working again. Comes at a cost since we had to remove the non-backup-related snapshots as well...
@HamiltonWDS Thanks for the report. As it works with wget let use it! I'll switch from curl to wget in doc. In the meantime some colleagues will investigate more.
