XOA trial is enough to test it. Just ask another trial.
You really need an application aware backup with AD.
Option 1: Additional backup-software Option 2: Combine Windows-Backup with XOA --> A system-state-backup should be sufficient. Option 3: Install a new DC
Community version doesn't have a release number, but a commit version on master. Please check you are on the latest commit and rebuild 🙂
@jsawyer77 Did you follow the documentation when building XO? If not, then what process did you use?
Also, check to see if libvhdi-utils is installed and which version.

VSS agent will disappear, so yes, quiesce snapshots will disappear too. But fear not, we have plans to introduce a new feature, called "RAM backups".
Restoring the whole VM is OK, because XO doesn't "look" inside the disk.
