@stormi said in XCP-ng 8.3 updates announcements and testing: IMPORTANT NOTICE! After publishing the updates, we discovered a very nasty bug when using the UEFI certificates that we distribute. Long story short, they're too big, and there's only limited space (57K), and combined to a preexisting bug in varstored, this will cause the VM to stop booting after Windows or any other OS attempts to append to the DBX (revocation database). We pulled the varstored update, but those who updated can be affected. There are conditions for the issue: Existing VMs are not affected, unless you propagated the new certs to them New VMs are affected only if you never installed UEFI certs to the pool yourself (through XOA or secureboot-certs install), or cleared them using secureboot-certs clear in order to use our default certificates. If you have the affected version of varstored (rpm -q varstored yields varstored-1.2.0-3.1.xcpng8.3) : on every host, downgrade it with yum downgrade varstored-1.2.0-2.3.xcpng8.3. No reboot or toolstack restart required. if you have affected UEFI VMs, that is VMs that meet the conditions above but are not broken yet, don't install updates, turn them off, and fix them by deleting their DBX database: https://docs.xcp-ng.org/guides/guest-UEFI-Secure-Boot/#remove-certificates-from-a-vm. This has to be done when the VM is off. Your OS will add its own DBX afterwards. If you already have broken VMs (this warning reaching you too late), revert to a snapshot or backup. Other ways to fix them will require a patched varstored currently in the making. @dinhngtu A little trick for the future when determining whether a user’s system, is affected by a bad update based on version, as well as remediation checks. You can use “yum history list <packagename>”, to retrieve transaction IDs. The script can then iterate over the transaction IDs retrieving the package versions. The specific transaction info can be retrieved with “yum history info <transaction_id>”. This will enable you to go back much further, thus seeing if remediation is required more easily!!

said in Unable to enable High Availability - INTERNAL_ERROR(Not_found): said in Unable to enable High Availability - INTERNAL_ERROR(Not_found): @psafont Would designating a new pool master do the same thing? I ran the above command and its had no effect Well, I tried changing the pool master and when VMHost11 was the master I was able to enable HA. Switching back to VMHost13 as the master now so will see how that goes Everything is working as expected/hoped. So for anyone reading through this and wants a TL;DR Issue was related to the pool master setting, changing the pool master to a different host and then back to the original fixed the incorrect settings allowing HA to be enabled

Helped if i read the error message.... raise RuntimeError(f"{vm_type} {vm_uuid} is {power_state}, expected Halted; refusing to fix") Shut down vm ran the fix again, and fix applied. Edit - I did have to disable secure boot on windows vms for them to boot afterwards.

Do you have any logs in the browser console or in XO server output? Maybe a parsing error

@dinhngtu No, I haven't tried those. The host reboot appeared to fix the original issue and I had forgotten about them when I was troubleshooting the restart yesterday. I'll do a bit more playing around with this in a few days and report back.

Hi @Forza, The first list is the correct one. For instance, a single backup can satisfy both the monthly and yearly criteria.

I'm going to build an updated installer with an updated bnxt_en driver, as more and more servers require it.

@olivierlambert The only thing I can think of from newer kernels is NFS options like nconnect=xx for hopefully more speed in the day to day range of duties. As of the pre-LTS, this still wasn't in 8.3. I haven't checked after LTS.

@Andrew many thanks. As do I. See my OP. A failed build doesn't break XO. It leaves the previous successful build in place. My post wasn't to ask how to fix my problem, but to point out the issue to others who might care to know (see my last post). Cheers.

i found that whole pool is not alive enough. Can't reboot or mirgate anything. Have issue only with this 1 pool. Is it safe to reboot hosts? https://paste.vates.tech/?7e565d3abe23fd11#7JcQbjRguFpNfw281asxdmb2Zrd7GKXpuE17iDtwt3KG

@rk9268vc said in Having issues installing StartOS as a VM. Cant detect a disk for it to install to.: @TeddyAstie so can i just not run this OS on xcp-ng? is there no workaround? Would this run on proxmox? you can try adding to Linux command-line (in grub) xen_emul_unplug=never to disable PV drivers, thus making udev see ATA/NVMe drivers, maybe that's enough as long it's only the installer

Hey, we also have the problem of delta backups falling back to full very often using latest XO from sources. We are also using CBT. I read in the documentation that "CBT snapshot data purge" feature can be hit or miss. It would be awesome if that feature would be more stable though. I consider it "cleaner" to not have snapshots that can't be deleted. Best regards
